Despite being wronged, Nawaz safeguards state institutions’ secrets, says Maryam

ISLAMABAD: Maryam Nawaz, in a series of tweets, on Saturday said that no one guards state institutions’ secrets like Nawaz Sharif.

She further tweeted that the former prime minister’s silence should not be misconstrued or tested and that he was only silent to uphold the country’s honour and safety. “Nawaz Sharif would not remain silent if his silence is used against Pakistan’s well-being,” she wrote.

The tweets came after the failure of rapprochement attempts between MQM-P and PSP, both of which parties blamed the establishment for the failure.

It is vital to mention here that PSP chief Mustafa Kamal, earlier in the day, claimed that it was the establishment which had helped the short-lived alliance between the MQM-P and his party. He added that the MQM-P itself was created in the room of [then Pakistan Rangers Sindh DG] Major Bilal Akbar.

Reacting to the statement, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said the establishment should stop meddling into politics, and a judicial commission should be formed to investigate the real story behind the MQM-P and the PSP’s brief alliance.
