Anti-polio campaign to commence shortly in the city

LAHORE: Punjab Health Department’s Dr Yadullah has said that anti-polio campaign, which was postponed in Lahore due to the strike of dengue and polio workers, will commence from November 6, 2017. He said that the protestors finished the strike after successful dialogue with the workers. He further guaranteed that the workers will perform their duties as per routine and that the three-day campaign will continue without any glitch.

More than ten thousand workers will perform their polio duties, Primary and Secondary Health Department and district government have formulated 4452 teams for this purpose, from which 348 teams will be deputed at bus stations, railway stations, entry and exit points of the city and basic health units, whereas 167 transit-teams will also perform their duties.

Presiding over the review meeting, Dr Yadullah said that teams are being activated under a comprehensive plan in all the union councils of the city. He appealed the citizens to administer anti-polio drops to their children and said that in case of any complaint anti-polio helpline should be contacted for support.

Dr Yadullah stressed the workers to work more dedicatedly and warned against action which will be taken against the staff absent or showing negligence during the anti-polio campaign.
