ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Climate Change on Friday expressed its concerns over cutting of precious trees on the Embassy Road and recommended to take strict action against those who are involved in the heinous crime.
The standing committee, which met under the chairmanship of Muhammad Uzair Khan, was briefed about the felling of trees on Embassy Road by focal person of Green Pakistan Project. The committee recommended that third party evaluation and monitoring policy/mechanism should be prepared in this regard.
Further, the NA body was briefed by Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) regarding updated working policy of growing seeds, on which the body recommended that a climate resilient policy should be prepared in this respect.
The committee was also briefed about reports of water contamination in the Rawal Dam. The body showed dissatisfaction over the briefing regarding the issue, and recommended that all departments concerned should present a combined report on the same.
