RCB successfully completes three-day cleanliness drive

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has successfully completed its three-day cleanliness drive to collect and dispose of the sacrificial animals’ waste during the Eidul Azha.

RCB’s Additional Cantonment Executive Officer Arslan Haider informed APP that 700 sanitation workers participated in the cleanliness operation. He said that the cleaning staff had handled hundreds of tonnes of animal waste.

He said 80 vehicles, including tractors and trolleys, trucks, dumpers, shovels and bulldozers, were used for collecting and disposing of waste materials.

RCB Chief Sanatory Inspector Muhammad Waris Bhatti informed that as a part of the special sanitation plan, 14 feet deep ditches were dug up at the Chakri Road dumping site to bury the animal waste in line with the hygienic standards.

He said that for streamlining this operation, the RCB had divided the area into 10 wards for collecting the waste of sacrificial animals with five transfer stations.

He said that special arrangements were made by the RCB for collecting and disposing of offal, entrails and other wastes of sacrificial animals in the city.

He said that the RCB had also set up a complaint centre, where 60 complaints were received during three days of Eid. He said that the staff promptly responded all complaints.
