Former PM likely to fly to London to celebrate Eid

Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is expected to fly to London to meet his wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. According to a private news channel, the former PM is expected to celebrate Eidul Azha with his ailing wife who is undergoing a cancer treatment in London.

On August 22, doctors had diagnosed Kulsoom with lymphoma due to which she is undergoing treatment in London. Doctors have termed her disease ‘curable’ and said that the treatment shouldn’t be too complicated.

The wife of the former premier is also a Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) candidate for the NA-120 by-election, which is due on September 17. In her absence, their daughter Maryam Nawaz has commenced the election campaign for her on Saturday.

The NA-120 seat had fallen vacant following Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers case.
