Outrage: Police Sergeant run over by MPA’s car

Abdul Majeed Achakzai belongs to Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) and is currently the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The MPA’s car allegedly ran over Haji Attaullah Dasti, 42, a Traffic Sergeant performing his duty on Shaheed Fayaz Sunbal Chowk on Tuesday evening when the tragedy took place.

At this point the identity of the car’s driver remains unclear, with claims of it being that of Abdul Majeed Achakzai driver or the MPA himself as the  SSP Traffic Nazeer Kurd added, “Majeed Achakzai was driving the vehicle by himself and we are investigating the incident.”

Nevertheless, the vehicle seems to most definately be the MPA’s based on various eyewitnesses’ accounts and newly released CCTV footage.

The alarming point based on this is the fact that the FIR registered has been against “unidentified people” despite the MPA’s seemingly explicit connection with the incident.

This can be seen as an attempt of  absolving  Abdul Majeed Achakzai from the blame and has ,fittingly, led to social media outrage as twitter activists under #justiceforpolicesargent demand justice especially as more information regarding the tragedy is released.

A post published on Awal e Balochistan Facebook page demands the Judiciary to take notice of the case.

The Balochistan Police page posted the picture of slain traffic constable and attached the FIR copy in question.

Twitter activists are understandably outraged.

The slain police sergeants’ loved ones and those affected by the incident seek justice and hope that the concerned authorities make sure that if the MPA is involved he is treated equally under the law as to set a precedent for years to come
