While awaiting treatment, the man finally caved in and confessed to the police that he had lied and had stabbed himself to get a day off.

He is reported to have said “I didn’t want to go to work, so I did it. If I got hurt I thought I would not have to go to work.”

He explained to the police that he found a knife near the subway ticket counter and took the drastic step due to work stress. The police arrested him for filing a false complaint.

Working overtime and high levels of stress at work place is a major issue in the country.
