900 Indian girls apply henna in bid for world record

More than 900 girls have applied henna together at a marriage function in India’s western city of Surat in an attempt to create a new world record.

They adorned their hands with intricate designs using the reddish-brown dye made from the tropical flowering plant, henna.

Henna art is believed to bring fortune and joy to the bride.

An application has been submitted to register the record in Guinness Book of World Records.
