Six suspected Qaeda militants arrested in Balochistan

Security forces on Saturday apprehended six suspected al Qaeda militants, including a key commander, during a raid near Pak-Afghan border in Noshki district of Balochistan.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, while speaking on law and order situation in the provincial assembly session, revealed that “security forces carried out an intelligence-based raid to arrest a key militant commander along with five other militants”.

Bugti informed that security forces also recovered Jihadi literature, lap tops and weapons from the possession of suspected militants. “The terrorists received training in Afghanistan and were recruiting militants in the area,” he said.

He said that proxy war was underway in Balochistan and that foreign agencies were also involved in the unrest.

Meanwhile, the arrested Qaeda militants have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

“The arrested militants were also involved in recruitment of youth for militant Islamic State (IS) and sending them to Syria for Jihad,” said an official requesting anonymity.

The militants were also involved recruiting people and sending them to Shorawak and Sar Lath areas at Pak-Afghan border.
