Anil Kapoor has been making headlines for his on-screen lip-lock with 24 co-star Sarveen Chawla. However, he feels it’s time people stopped making a big deal about kissing on TV, according to Times of India.
He clarified that the kiss was necessary for the role he was playing in the show.
“My character is shown to be in a relationship with a woman. I have kissed in my films when there has been a need to. In 24, a lip-lock was needed. So we went ahead and did it,” he said.
The Mr India star went on to say that since 24 is an adaptation of the American TV series, its standard needs to be maintained.
“The content in 24 is not juvenile. We are looking at a series which has certain international standards to uphold,” he added.
24 is a political thriller starring Anil Kapoor, Mandira Bedi, Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher, and Rahul Khanna.
Anil has adopted several American TV series including 24, Modern Family and has recently acquired the rights to Prison Break.
