Sharif orders timely, fair execution of projects to benefit masses

  • Punjab CM says billions being spent on public welfare projects for speedy development of province

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that billions of rupees are being spent on timely and transparent implementation of public welfare projects for speedy development of the province.

Presiding over a meeting held to review progress of uplift projects under the Annual Development Programme, Sharif said that projects in the sectors of education, health, agriculture, energy and provision of potable water were being completed on a priority basis so that people could benefit from their fruit as early as possible. Provincial ministers, advisers, chief secretary, Planning and Development chairman and secretaries of all provincial departments were present on the occasion.

The chief minister said that full attention had been paid to energy projects and expressed the hope that darkness would be eliminated from the country with the completion of energy projects. He however warned that no negligence or laxity would be tolerated in timely completion of development projects, adding that departments concerned were responsible for their completion on time and they would have to work with the spirit of public service and hard work.

Sharif said that service to the people was a form of worship and all-out resources were being utilised for provision of basic facilities to the masses. He said that every citizen had right over potable water and for this purpose, a comprehensive programme was being ensured expeditiously. He said that provision of potable water would be ensured to citizens under the Saaf Pani Project at a cost of billions of rupees.

The chief minister further said that the energy crisis had left a negative impact on country’s economy, and the country’s future was linked with its early elimination. He said that round-the-clock efforts were being made for bringing the country out of this crisis.

Sharif further said that an example had been set by saving billions of rupees in energy and other projects, and the funds saved were also being spent on the projects of provision of basic amenities to the masses.
