President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will change the fate of the people of the country, play a vital role in development and progress of the region and create new employment opportunities.
Addressing participants of a medical conference here on Saturday, the president said that besides the CPEC, the incumbent government had initiated a number of public welfare projects across the country.
He urged medical practitioners to step forward and wage a war on corruption and dishonesty with an aim to purge society of evils.
President Mamnoon asked the international community to adopt sympathetic attitude to enable Pakistan to completely eradicate polio. “The polio virus affected Pakistan owing to wars in the region and the international community should extend support to the country to cope with the disease,” he added.
The president said that medical education in Pakistan was at par with the international standards and involvement of private sector had helped improve the situation.
Mamnoon said the government was paying attention to the issue as various proposals were under consideration and the people would soon get good news.
