A petition seeking to hold the trial of Lyari gang war leader Uzair Baloch in the military court was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday.
The petition was submitted in the apex court by Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi.
The plaintiff stated that cases against Uzair Baloch had been registered under the Anti-terrorism Act as the accused had played a role in ravaging the law and order situation in Karachi.
The petitioner further said that the accused had links with prominent leaders of a major political party in the province.
Federation, Sindh government, Interior Ministry, Ministry of Defence, Law Ministry, Attorney General, Sindh Advocate General and others have been made respondents in the petition.
Meanwhile, MQM leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan told media personnel outside the Sindh Assembly that many facts would surface after Baloch’s arrest.
He said that a new era of peace would begin after the Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s report in the case.
