President calls upon clerics to play role in eliminating corruption

President Mamnoon Hussain has called upon Ulema to play their role against corruption by spreading the message that elimination of this menace was must for the country’s prosperity.

The president was addressing a ceremony he had hosted in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) and birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah at the State Guesthouse the other day.

Mamnoon stressed the need for promotion of the teachings and message of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Quoting the words from the speech of Quaid-e-Azam in his address to the Karachi Bar Association on January 25, 1948, the president said that besides Muslims, other nations also respected the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The president said that Pakistan was an Islamic republic and it would remain the same.

He also quoted words of Quaid-e-Azam from his interview to an American Radio in February 1948: “The Constitution of Pakistan will be framed and those fundamental principles of Islam which had been told by the Holy Prophet centuries ago will surely be incorporated in it.”

Mamnoon said that the nation was inheritor of a rich culture and it had the ability to become a great one and it would surely achieve that goal.

The president said that various ongoing development projects would change fate of the country upon their completion. He said it was the responsibility of all to strive for the restoration of the old glory of the Sindh metropolis.

Earlier, prominent scholars Maulana Salfi, Maulana Mohsin Naqvi, Mufti Rafi Usmani, Allama Shah Turab-ul-haq Qadri and famous writer Zahid Malik, in their addresses, shed light on the different aspects of the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and advised the nation to follow his footsteps.
