No historical site to be affected by metro train: Sharif

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project is the unique and the biggest project in the history of Pakistan in transport sector.

He said metro train would result in comfortable, economical and respectable transport facilities to the citizens. He said no historical building or site will be affected by the project and their conservation is being ensured. He said that he is personally supervising the project. He said that no comprise will be made on civil works of the project and authorities concerned should pay full attention to the quality of construction work.

He was addressing a meeting at Civil Secretariat through video link here on Friday which reviewed in detail the progress of civil works of Orange Line Metro Train Project. The chief minister said that continuous monitoring should be ensured for maintaining standard of the project and steering committee should review the pace of the project and take decisions. He said foolproof arrangements should be ensured for protection of citizens during construction work while proper arrangements should be made for construction work at night. He said besides protective arrangements for the workers engaged on the project, first aid points should also be set up.

Sharif further said that effective arrangements should be made for maintaining smooth flow of traffic on the route of the project. He said an effective traffic management system should be implemented for the convenience of citizens. He said that Chief Traffic Officer should personally review traffic arrangements on the route. Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah, Rana Mashood Ahmed, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Member National Assembly Pervaiz Malik, Punjab Government Spokesman Zaeem Qadri, Parliamentary Secretary Khawaja Imran Nazir, Members Provincial Assembly Majid Zahoor, Bao Akhtar, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, Chairman Planning and Development, Managing Director Punjab Mass Transit Authority, LDA DG and officers concerned were present on the occasion.
