KP govt introduces e-governance for transparency, accountability: Mushtaq

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ghani said on Tuesday that the provincial government was introducing modern technology at government offices under the reform agenda to bring transparency and accountability to the process of government.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the web-portal of Right to Information Commission at Civil Secretariat, he said that the introduction of the web-portal would facilitate people to lodge their complaints online and to learn the status of their applications anytime they wanted.

He said KP government had introduced right to information act to enable the masses to make the government and its departments accountable.

Musthaq said that now the people were no more cut off from the information they required about the government and their departments, adding that they would get all the information regarding the government with the click of a mouse.

Earlier, the minister was informed that the web-portal would enable the masses to acquire information about any government department through online request on www.erti.kp.gov.pk.

He said that the citizens could also lodge complaints against focal persons of any department if the required information was not provided. The administrative heads and focal persons of all the government departments have received dish-boards to monitor progress on any request or application.

The minister praised the performance of Right to Information Commission and distributed commendation certificates among officials of information technology department on successful launch of the web-portal.
