Snail-paced talks with PAT expected to reach somewhere today

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has expressed confidence that some understanding would be reached with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) today (Wednesday)

Talking to journalists in Islamabad Tuesday after another round of talks with PAT negotiating team in the presence of political jirga members, the minister said that the government had responded to the demands of PAT and talks were progressing.

The minister said that it was their effort to culminate the dialogue process at the earliest so that sit-ins could end. However, he declined giving any further details

Speaking on the occasion, jirga leader Sirajul Haq expressed hope that the crisis would be resolved in a peaceful manner.

Moreover, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Rehman Malik said that in line with the aspirations of the people and suggestions of the media, the jirga has proposed a middle way that provides a way forward for all in the greater national interests.

The senator said that the prime minister was cooperating out of the way in facilitating the work of the jirga and breaking the deadlock. Similarly, PTI leader Imran Khan and PAT leader Tahirul Qadri are also extending cooperation, he added.
