Peshawar police targeted again, one official killed, two others injured

Policeman guarding Shah Qabool shrine gunned down while DSP and his driver were ambushed in Sheen Daran area of Badbher

The Peshawar police was targeted yet again on Wednesday as a policemen guarding a shrine was killed while a senior police official’s vehicle was ambushed by unidentified terrorists on the outskirts of the city, leaving him and his driver injured.

Police constable Aleem Khan was shot dead in the Shah Qabool area of Peshawar where he was performing guard duties in front of Shah Qabool shrine.

Later in the day, Peshawar Cantt Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdul Rehman’s vehicle was targeted near Sheen Daran area in the jurisdiction of Badbher Police Station when he was on routine patrol. The firing injured Rehman and his driver and both were moved to the Lady Reading Hospital for treatment.

In the past two weeks, at least seven police personnel have lost their lives in incidents of targeted killings whereas 10 others have been injured.


Meanwhile in Mohmand tribal region, at least two people were wounded when an IED planted on a roadside exploded in Manzri area of Baizai tehsil.

Rescue and security teams rushed to the blast site and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital where their condition was reported as critical.

Earlier on July 17, a security official was injured in a blast in Musakhel Landi Shah area of Baizai tehsil in Mohmand Agency.


In another incident of terrorism, unidentified militants attacked a NATO container on the Pak-Afghan Highway in Jamrud Tehsil of Khyber tribal region.

The container was travelling from Pakistan to Afghanistan when it came under attack.

Official sources say that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the container in Kata Kusta area, damaging the container. No casualty has been reported.
