*Wattoo says PAT’s dream of Iran like revolution can’t materialise
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri’s dreams of Iran like revolution in Pakistan cannot be materialised, said Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo while talking to journalists after condoling the death of brother of renowned poet Masood Okarvi with the bereaved family on Saturday.
Manzoor Wattoo said the revolution in Iran was based on ‘Authoritarianism’ there but there exists a democratically elected government in Pakistan.
He said if agitation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan failed, the government will continue to govern and if thumb impressions in four constituencies were proved fake, the country will move towards mid-term elections.
Wattoo admitted that a large scale rigging in previous general elections was carried out but said that the PPP accepted the results of polls for the sake of continuation of democracy.
He said that Imran Khan has been demanding probe in four constituencies and the Election Commission should accept his justified demand.
The PPP Punjab president warned that if the countrymen took to the streets and the democracy was derailed then a century will be required to constitute a new constitution for the country.
Wattoo said that existing constitution is the guarantee for unity, stability of national institutions and strengthening the country, therefore all needed to play role to defend it.
