A shutter-down strike was observed across Balochistan on a call given by the Awami National Party against the kidnapping of its leader Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi on Thursday.
ANP’s former president of Balochistan chapter, Arbab Abdul Zahir Kasi, was abducted by gunmen on Wednesday.
Police said the armed men intercepted his car on the outskirts of Quetta and took him away in their vehicle on the gunpoint.
Almost all business centers and markets remained closed in Quetta, with business activities suspended also in Chaman, Qilla Abdullah, Kachlak, Qilla Saifullah, Pashen, Loralai, Ziarat and other towns.
The ANP’s strike call was backed by political and religious parties of the restive province where several doctors, professors and political leaders have been targeted by miscreants and frequently kidnapped for ransom
