BACK TO HOT WEATHER FROM TOMORROW!

The provincial capital on Saturday received intermittent rain amid partly cloudy weather conditions with chances of rain-thunderstorm during the next 24 hours.
Though the city may receive rain on Sunday, hot and humid weather will return after the holiday, a Met Office Duty Officer said.
Rain decreased the temperature from 30 to 23C but it also caused some parts of the city to house standing ponds. The Met office said that the total rain in Lahore was 43 mm. Humidity was recorded at 39 and 85 percent in the morning and evening, respectively.
The spell of heavy afternoon rain caused the accumulation of water in low-lying areas, inundating many of the city’s streets with sewerage water as manholes overflowed and the inhabitants faced huge problems.
Though Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA)’s staffers stationed at rainstorm camps in different localities remained present, they could not extend much help to inhabitants as the drains were choked.
There is immediate need of improvement in Lahore’s old sewerage system as the city’s population has multiplied besides the silting of old lines that hinders the free flow of water from the sewers.
Though the water level at Ravi has increased, the district government and the flood warning centre said that there was no immediate threat of flooding at Shahdara.
