Hospitals on high alert for Eid

The Health department directed all government hospitals, Autonomous Medical Institutions, Rural Health Centres and Basic Health Units to remain on high alert during the Eid holidays to cope with any medical emergency in Punjab.
The Health department issued instructions to Autonomous Medical Institution Principals, Government Hospital Medical Superintendents (including DHQ and THQ hospitals), Punjab Health Director General and other subordinate medical institution heads for making foolproof arrangements to combat any eventuality.
They were asked to prepare an emergency duty roster and an emergency crisis management plan to ensure presence of doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff.
Furthermore, they were directed to arrange for additional beds in every hospital and for ensuring the availability of adequate lifesaving drug stocks, vaccines and disposable items.
Government hospital administration was directed to keep bio-medical equipment, machines, patient’s lifts and standby generators in perfect working order.
Moreover, they were directed to maintain fully functional operation theaters and fully equipped functional ambulances along with a sufficient number of trained staff for the transportation of patients and wounded individuals.
Sufficient quantity of blood bags (of all blood groups) along with a list of donors should also be made available, the health department revealed.
