Steven Spielberg’s historical drama Lincoln, starring Daniel Day- Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, is riding high across international film awards nominations and the US box office. The film has received 12 nominations at the 85th Academy Awards and 10 nominations at the BAFTA Awards across categories including Best Film, Actors, Screenplay and Cinematography. A screening of the film was held on February 7 in the city. The US Consulate in Mumbai is excited about the film’s release in India just a few days prior to Lincoln’s birthday (February 12). Talking about Lincoln, both the film and the president, Spielberg says, “Lincoln is relevant today. I’ve always believed that history helps us understand how we got to where we are and figure out where we want to go from here. Lincoln’s presidency offers the most vivid model of leadership.” Lincoln, produced by Reliance Entertainment and DreamWorks, released in India on February 8.
