Low gas pressure riles citizens

Domestic consumers in various areas faced great hardship on Tuesday because of gas shortage and low pressure. Consumers complained that gas pressure sharply dropped from 6 am to 10 am.
“This is a regular feature since the advent of winter. This season did not bring any joy for us as we are unable to even enjoy a hot meal due to the frequent load shedding of gas,” said Mustjab Rizwan of Sabzazar Scheme.
“I use LPG as an alternative, but it is expensive and not affordable,” he added.
Mrs Omer Wattoo said she faced trouble preparing food for her school-going children.
SNGPL, following a dip in gas pressure, had already suspended the supply of gas to CNG stations to ensure smooth supply of gas to domestic consumers.
When contacted, a high-ranking officer of SNGPL said there were complaints of low pressure but the situation would improve within a few days.
Meanwhile, dozens of domestic consumers, mostly women and children, staged a protest against gas outages and low pressure on Bund Road. The protesters, carrying empty utensils, blocked the road and chanted slogans against the government. They urged SNGPL officials to take immediate steps to improve the supply of gas.
