Kashmir issue can only be resolved through dialogue: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday said Pakistan and India should resolve all issues, including Kashmir, through a meaningful dialogue. Talking to Abdul Ghani Bhat, senior leader of the All-Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), the chief minister said the PML-N wanted the Kashmir issue to be resolved according to the aspirations of Kashmiri people and promised them continuous political and moral support.
The chief minister said wars had only caused destruction and poverty and urged both countries to work out a solution and march forward towards peace.
“Resolving the Kashmir dispute will bring prosperity in the region. The resources being used for defence will then be used for education, health and other social sectors which will help improve the standard of living of the masses,” he said.
Shahbaz said Pakistan had been badly affected in the war against terrorism and had rendered immense sacrifices in the fight.
“Extremists are hatching conspiracies of creating anarchy in the country but the evil designs of the extremists can be foiled with mutual unity,” he added. The chief minister said he was deeply shocked over the martyrdom of Awami National Party leader and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour in a bomb blast in Peshawar on Saturday.
“Bashir Ahmed Bilour was a brave politician and always fought against terrorism. His services with regard to strengthening democracy and eliminating extremism will be remembered forever,” the chief minister said.
Abdul Ghani Bhat said efforts of the PML-N for resolution of Kashmir issue were commendable.
“We are thankful to the leadership of PML-N for their continuous support to the Kashmiri people,” Bhat said.

I think now Pakistan and India both wants an end to the violence and uncertainty in Kashmir. Both the countries should realize that this prolonged dispute is gaining them nothing but hindrance to the economic development in their respective regions.
