Low gas pressure hits domestic consumers hard

In clear violation of directives issued by the prime minister regarding gas supply to domestic consumers, a number of residents, especially in Sector I-10, have been facing acute gas shortage for the second consecutive day.
Bilal Khalid, a resident of Sector I-10/2, said that he had registered a complaint about the low gas pressure with the company’s helpline but no official had visited his house to rectify the fault. The households have been unable to cook meals and have had to adjust their cooking timings, added.
Residents said that the problem had started after CNG stations in residential areas started selling gas after three days. They said that gas pressure remained normal when the stations were shut for three days for gas load-management.
They further said that areas which were at a distance from CNG stations did not face gas shortages.
Shahid Khan, a resident of Shahzad Town, said that the matter of low pressure had been brought to the attention of concerned officials but was still unresolved.
Residents said that concerned authorities should lay a separate gas pipeline for CNG stations and domestic users should not be supplied gas from the same pipelines. When contacted, a company official said that low gas pressure was result of heavy use of gas heaters and geysers.
He claimed that the company was striving to maintain gas pressure especially for domestic consumers, but it took time to reach out to every consumer. He said that the company’s helpline 1199 was available to register and address consumers’ complaints.
