Pakistan, India join hands against drug mafia

India and Pakistan will share operational intelligence with each other on drug trafficking to crack down on the drug mafia using the territory as a transit point.
During the Director General-level talks between the countries in New Delhi, both sides shared a mutual concern regarding the menace of drugs and resolved that coordinated approach will be the key to combat the rising smuggling incidents.
“Both sides exchanged the operational-level contacts for sharing of real time information. During the meeting, it was also agreed that the effectiveness of cooperation on drug matters largely depends on frequency of interaction.”
“It was agreed to hold the next DG-level talks in Pakistan on a mutually convenient date,” a statement issued on the first day of talks said.
During the discussion, the Indian delegation was led by Ajay Chadha, Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), while the Pakistani delegation was headed by Major General Malik Zafar Iqbal, Director General, ANF.
