MQM postpones referendum on Pakistan question

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has postponed its controversial nationwide referendum on the question “Taliban or Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan”, which was scheduled to be held on November 8.
The referendum, which asks the Pakistanis to choose between the Taliban’s way of life or the vision of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, will now be held on November 14, according to a statement issued by the MQM’s Coordination Committee.
Earlier on Sunday, MQM Deputy Convener Farooq Sattar called the threat of religious extremism the biggest challenge faced by the country, and announced to hold the abovementioned referendum. Speaking at a press conference at the Lal Qila Ground, Sattar said, “It’s a now-or-never decision which we have to take,” he said.
Sattar said that extremists were targeting mosques, Imam bargahs, shrines and schools. Also that they were attacking defence installations and killing the personnel of police, Rangers, FC, and armed forces.
Meanwhile, a constitutional petition was filed in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the MQM’s referendum. Petitioner Haji Gul Ahmed pleaded that holding referendums on sensitive issues was the sole prerogative of the prime minister with parliament’s approval. Any political party or individual cannot hold such referendums, he added.

referendum on the question “Taliban or Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan”,
it itself tells that how stupid MQM leadership is on its statement or public opinion.
They just want to make funny shows and themes to show the sense of comical humour of their funny leader.
The theoretical vision of Jinnah’s Pakistan has been badly distorted or reversed under the command of two military dictators.

Zia’s Islamic program and Musharraf’s decision to support the global war on terror led Pakistan to play a reactive role in assisting the United States to defeat Russia and then al-Qa’ida respectively . In other words, not only Pakistan was helping to produce the monsters for super powers but had to take the mission of destroying the same monster that it assisted in creating. Internally, this has placed Pakistan in extremely difficult position, as super power never leave any option to do other than their real interests. So all these wars are actually kind of crusades where Muslim decision makers are aiding non-Muslims to create Muslim genocide on the basis of local mismatches.

The present situation in which MQM is with ruling alliance for last 20 years it looks that wrong policies of rulers has created the three key groups and uncontrollable factors those have become real threats to the Pakistani state. These are Islamist, agitated tribes, and ethnic religious nationalists.MQM lies in 3rd category.
