FATA Secretariat imposes ban on PTI’s peace march

Fata Secretariat and government machinery has recommended imposing ban on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for holding peace march in Waziristan.
The recommendations have been put forwarded to the federal government as security situation could come under danger in this regard.
Sources said that under the light of the report, it will be decided formally whether permission will be granted or not to hold the peace march.
TI Spokesman earlier was of the view that the government was trying to create hurdles in their way for holding peace march in Kotkai and it will be responsible in case of any unpleasant situation.

It seems strange that FATA Secretariat and government should forward their recommendations to the federal government, asking it to ban the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's peace march to Waziristan. I would have thought that of all the people, these would the ones' from FATA who would appreciate the march and provide maximum help to its organizers to make the event a great success, because they stand to gain most from the stoppage of drone strikes and establishment of peace in the area.

The reason behind the move might be the great diconnect between the people of FATA, who may be all for the march, and the government whose priorities might not etirely oincide with those of the inhabitants of the territory. In fact, the disease is not restricted to FATA and the story is much the same almost all over Pakistan. Take for example, the situation in Karachi, the industrial and commercial hub of the country, where scores of people get massacred every day but for the government, it is business as usual, with 'concerns' often expressed over the situation from time to time but no serious and sustained efforts are ever made to bring things under control. The situation in Balochistan is much the same where despite the gravity of situation, the government seems to be totally unconcerned or at least not as concerned as it shoud have been. Just as well that the Supreme Court is taking an initiative which is giving the people of the region some hope otherwise they would have felt totally abandoned.

I hope the government would act wisely and would not try to put hurdles in the way of PTI's peace march.
