Drama competition starts at Rawalpindi Arts Council

Inter colleges and universities drama competition has started at the Rawalpindi Arts Council on Tuesday in connection with Punjab Youth Festival.
On the first day of the festival, the students of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) staged their play titled “Hum Kuin Chalen is Rah Per”. The drama was written and directed by Meher Ali Shah.
The Rawalpindi Arts Council Director Waqar Ahmed was the chief guest while Yar Muhammad, Basharat Jaffari and Syed Salman Tahir Shah were appointed as judges for the competition.
The main theme of the play was that our youth seemed non-serious about everything, but still possessed truthfulness and courage to do something for the country.
The drama also projected the greedy nature of the people by showing a pharmaceutical company owner who launched fake medicines into the market during the flood days which resulted in the deaths of many people. The play took a twist when the daughter of the owner exposed him to the world and got him arrested.
Addressing the occasion, the Rawalpindi Arts Council Director said that the youth had immense talent and it was the need of the hour to provide a platform for them, adding that the arts council was playing a vital role in this regard. Participation of youth in Punjab Youth Festival initiated by the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif showed that the future of Pakistan was now in the hands of the young generation, which was brighter than the older one, he added.
Two more dramas would be staged on Wednesday (today).
