Security forces on Friday repulsed an attack on a checkpost in Lower Dir by Afghan militants, killing five of the attackers in a gun battle. Per reports, Afghan militants attacked a security force checkpost at Ankle near Maskeeni Pass in the Jandol area close to the Pak-Afghan border during the night between Thursday and Friday. Pakistani security forces returned the attack and an exchange of fire continued for two-and-a-half hours. The retaliation by Pakistan Army killed five militants and forced the remaining attackers to flee. Sources further said that exchange of intermittent fire continued during the day on Friday. The sources said Afghan militants entered Lower Dir from Bajaur Agency.
