Emergency wards to shut down in Balochistan if Dr Ghulam Rasool is not recovered: PMA

Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan chapter has warned authorities that all emergency wards in government hospitals across the province will shut down within 48 hours if the abducted psychiatrist Dr. Ghulam Rasool was not recovered within the time. Addressing a news conference, PMA Balochistan President Dr. Sultan Tareen, along with other PMA leaders including Dr. Aftab Kakar, Dr. Aalam Mengal, and representatives of Private Hospitals Association Dr. Aamir and Dr. Hamidullah said, “PMA has decided to close emergency wards in all government hospitals on Friday at 3pm if Dr. Ghulam Rasool is not recovered”.
They said that they, as well as all law enforcement agencies, were aware of the influential group behind the abduction of Dr. Ghulam Rasool. They added that the law enforcement personnel were avoiding taking action against the kidnappers as they were enjoyed patronage of their influential gang members. They said that no doctor would examine any Senators, members of national and provincial assembly, senior government officials and all other government dignitaries if immediate steps were not taken to ensure the safe recovery of Dr. Ghulam Rasool. They acceded that PMA had given permission to private hospitals to provide emergency and all other types of treatment to patients, adding that poor patients would be provided treatment free of cost, including surgery at private hospitals. They said that the PMA delegation had met higher authorities and asked them to take practical steps against the kidnappers.
