DPC to continue protest against resumption of NATO supplies

The Difa-e-Pakistan Council on Sunday announced that it would continue country-wide protests against the government’s decision to reopen NATO supply routes until the decision withdrawn. DPC’s spokesman Asif Khursheed said the continuation of drone attacks by the US even after the resumption of NATO supplies was a slap to the government’s face. He said peaceful protest against the decision would continue until the supply was closed again. He said they would not stop NATO supplies with the use of power, nor would they block any road. The spokesman claimed that the government had “made a compromise on the blood of the martyred soldiers and citizens”.
The DPC will take out rallies in Peshawar on Monday and Tuesday. The rallies in Peshawar will be headed by DPC Chairman Samiul Haq. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hassan, Jamaatud Dawa (JD) chief Hafiz Saeed, Awami Muslim League head Sheikh Rasheed and DPC Coordinator Gen (r) Hameed Gul will also take part in Peshawar rallies. Haq will address a press conference at Islamabad airport today (Monday) after returning from Balochistan.
