The Supreme Court on Monday expressed annoyance over wastage of revenue worth billions while hearing the case of missing NATO containers. A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry also directed NAB to extend its sphere of investigations and take action against the accused involved while seeking a progress report in the next hearing. “It is a matter of immense concern but no big fish has been arrested so far… only some drivers. Billion rupees of tax have been stolen that adversely affect the economy of the country,” the chief justice remarked. NAB informed the court about the details of the case, stating that 30,000 containers were missed on its way to Afghanistan. The court was told that investigations were underway and six clearing agents had been arrested. The chief justice was not impressed and said NAB had not arrested any prominent figure so far. The SC then adjourned the hearing until June 15.
