Anti-dengue spray campaign launched in 175 UCs

A comprehensive anti-dengue spray campaign has been launched in 175 union councils of Rawalpindi district and all graveyards, government universities, colleges, schools, hostels and official buildings of the district would be covered in this campaign. All TMAs are responsible to conduct spray in union councils of urban areas and District Health department is responsible to conduct spray in rural areas of Rawalpindi including Rawal Town, district government spokesman said.
He informed that earlier during last month, larvaeciding campaign was completed. He said that the authorities concerned had been directed to accelerate the campaign against the tyre shop owners keeping their tyres outside their shops. Stern action is being taken against the violators of the orders to save the public from the spread of dengue mosquitoes.
The spokesman said that in most of government colleges, seminars for awareness about the precautionary measures about the dengue fever were organized while in other colleges these were being conducted by the Health department.
He informed that private educational institutions have been directed to arrange the spray in their respective institutions on their own.
The booklets about anti-dengue preventive measures had also been provided by the Punjab government to distribute in the government educational institutions of the district, he said, adding 50,000 booklets had been provided each to female as well as male elementary schools of the district and 100,000 booklets had been provided to all high schools of the district.
Zero periods in all schools on anti-dengue awareness were being conducted in all schools of the district by the management of the schools.
The management of all teaching hospitals had also been directed to appoint focal persons for anti-dengue treatment and control rooms should be set up whereas the officials to perform duties in shifts round the clock. He said arrangements for dengue patient treatment in allied hospitals of the town are being made according to the last year’s arrangements.
A separate ward in all teaching hospitals and separate counters for dengue patients are being set up in all hospitals where the check up and lab test facilities would be provided.
