KMC administrator inspects Banaras Flyover construction

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed visited the Banaras Flyover, Shahrah-e-Noorjehan and other ongoing development projects on Tuesday.
He was accompanied by Technical Services Director Altaf G Memon, Senior Health Director Dr Shoukat Zaman, District West Administrator Nazir Lakhani and West Chief Engineer Subhan Jatoi.
Banaras Flyover would be opened for two-way traffic this week. The administrator directed the officials concerned to finish the repair work and shifting of pipelines passing beneath the Abdullah Girls College Roundabout within 10 days.
The administrator said that the flyover is being completed at a cost of Rs 1.2 billion and Rs 700 million are being spent on the construction of roads passing around and beneath it and the shifting of underground water and sewerage pipelines.
“The construction of three underpasses and five flyovers in the city will also begin soon while the hurdles in the renovation of Shahrah-e-Noorjehan and Shahrah-e-Qaddafi are being removed and their construction will be completed during the current year,” he added.
The administrator said action would be taken against those involved in damaging water supply pipelines.
“Pipes with six feet width were manufactured by Pakistan Steel and the first consignment of these pipes would be received in March 2012,” he added. “The other lines would be changed after new ones are supplied.”
He also said the Sher Shah Suri Road that connects with the Banaras Flyover would also be completed during the current month.
