Ebad approves law for shop security

In the wake of rampant robbery incidents in Karachi, Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul-Ebad Khan approved a security law for shopkeepers, like the one enforced in Punjab.
The governor chaired a meeting in this regard to finalize the law under which shopkeepers of main markets will have to arrange their own security, hiring private security guards.
The business community, however, opposed the decision, saying that the government has failed to provide security to masses, especially traders and business community of the city as 10 to 12 citizens are being gunned down every month in robbery bids.
Shopkeepers are of the view that by promulgating the law, the government intends to give leniency to police and Rangers, who are solely responsible for maintaining law and order in the city.
They said the move would also indirectly promote businesses of private security companies.
