‘Punjab govt threatening transporters not to help PTI’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leaders Ahsan Rashid, Mian Azhar and Mahmood Rashid on Thursday accused the Punjab government of creating hurdles in way of the party’s public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan on October 30 by threatening transporters to refrain from lending vehicles to the PTI. Holding a press conference at the PTI’s Jail Road Office, PTI Punjab President Ahsan Rashid said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was itself using all government resources to succeed its “drama rally” today (Friday) but despite all hurdles, “Imran’s tigers” would perform a historic show on October 30 by gathering millions of people.
He said that if the PML-N thinks that it could terrorise us then it was wrong, as people have realised that the party, who had been given a huge mandate in the last general elections, could not even resolve the basic problems and simply used public resources to benefit its favourites. Rashid said that the PML-N was under tremendous pressure from the PTI, as it was expecting that the masses would reject them.
The PTI leader said that it was every political party’s right to organise political campaign and public meetings but as soon as the PTI announced a massive gathering in Lahore, the announcement of the PML-N’s rally at the same route reflected the fear and panic of the leaguers. He said that apparently the PML-N government in Punjab was deeply worried because of a potent possibility that the PTI might slash significant right wing urban votes from the PML-N in the forthcoming elections in 2013.

This morning en-route to office, I have seen many PML-N roadside camps on Nazaria-e-Pakistan avenue (from canal to SKMCH). The tents are occupying almost half of the road & robes nailed in the middle of the carpeted road. The meanness made me feel so hurt and helpless. Why people become so inconsiderate in impairing a few good roads made by a handful tax payers’ money? I am pretty sure that soon the road will start cracking at the nails spot and spread over. But who cares!!!
