Film screenings tonight at TKF and IPSS

The Knowledge Factory in Lahore will be screening the BBC documentary, The Life of Muhammad tonight at 9 pm. A fifteen minute break will be taken in between episodes and the entry fee is 200 rupees. The venue is 91 (Basement), T Block, Phase II, D.H.A. Lahore.
Presented by Rageh Omaar, the documentary is an exploration of the Prophet’s life, from birth to death, and his role in conveying the message of Islam- a religion followed by 1.57 billion people worldwide.
The series draws on the expertise of some of the world’s leading authorities on Islam (Karen Armstrong, Tariq Ramadan, John Esposito and Mohammed Abdel Haleem to name a few). The documentary begins in the place of Muhammad’s birth, Makkah, and over the course of the three-part series explores key moments in his life and in the lives of the early community of believers.
The IPSS will be screening The Elephant Man by David Lynch at 4 pm and there is no entry fee. It is located at Off. #709, Al-Qadir Heights, 1 Babar Block, New Garden Town Lahore. The film features Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt and is about a Victorian surgeon who rescues a heavily disfigured man who is mistreated while scraping a living as a side-show freak. Behind his monstrous facade, there is revealed a person of intelligence and sensitivity.
