Load shedding increases despite rain

Although rain turned the weather pleasant and reduced the temperature but there was no respite from load shedding,
which instead of decreasing increased
on Saturday.
Despite decrease in usage of air conditioners, the power shortfall remained more than 5,000MW resulting in unscheduled power cuts. There were long hours of closures on Friday night and throughout the day on Saturday. Like previous days, there were closures of one hour after every two hours. The city once again received rain on Saturday reducing the temperature but load shedding remained constant.
Consumers said that LESCO and PEPCO have no solid reasons for closing power and just put consumers in problems. They said that although citizens have become habitual to load shedding but at least there should some schedule. “You never know when electricity will be closed and when it will be restored,” consumer Ahmed Saleem said adding that load shedding has destroyed daily life completely. Another consumer Jameel Qadri said that there were power cuts during prayer timings. “LESCO did not spare consumers during Friday prayers as well,” he added. The power shortfall on Saturday remained 5,169MW with generation 12,809MW and demand 17,978MW.
