Transfers fall in executive’s domain: Babar

Transfers and postings in the federal government departments was a prerogative of the executive and it did not fall in jurisdiction of courts, former federal minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan said on Thursday.
Addressing Pakistan People’s Party district information secretaries, he said the executive and judiciary cannot interfere in the transfers and postings within each other’s department.
Babar pointed out that in the last 40 years no judicial verdict was delivered in favour of PPP while none had been ruled against the Takht-e-Lahore.
“I endorse Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazlur Rehman’s statement that Nawaz Sharif has highjacked the judicial system,” he said, adding that the people would never accept judicial a martial law or ultra constitutional steps, he added.
He said the PPP would complete its tenure of five years and those demanding midterm elections should hold local bodies’ elections first, adding that nobody would be allowed to derail the democratic system and it was unfortunate that the courts had awarded stay orders for last 12 years on the Rs 6 billion loan taken by the Sharif brothers.
The Punjab government had wasted Rs 44 billion in ‘Tandoor’ programme, he alleged, adding that now it was going to waste Rs 50 billion on the “Afsana Housing Society”.
Former Information Secretary PPP, Taj Haider reasserted the PPP’s commitment to fight for the rights of the masses.
