Lord Nazir asks students to get ready for challenges

British MP Lord Nazir Ahmed said the Pakistani nation had the necessary talent and they would excel in every field of life if opportunities were provided to them. He said Pakistanis were playing a vital role in education, business and political spheres in Britain. He was speaking at a reception hosted by the Muslim Hands UK at Nottingham in the honour of delegation consisting top position holder Pakistani students currently visiting the United Kingdom. Addressing the function, Lord Nazir urged the youth to play their role in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. “Youth is the future of Pakistan and they must equip themselves with the latest technologies and skills to meet the challenges of 21st century.
Citing the examples of the chairperson of the ruling Conservative Party, Sayeeda Warsi, and Shadow Justice Secretary Sadiq Khan, who have Pakistani ancestry, he said there were more than 20 Muslim and Pakistani members of the British Parliament. Nazir appreciated Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for his initiative to send top students from Pakistan to the educational institutes of UK, Germany and Turkey to become familiar with the education systems of world leading counties. He suggested the Pakistani rulers to spend 4 percent of GDP on education which, he said, would bring a revolution in the sector. Leading British Muslim scholar Dr Musharraf Hussain described education as the key to success, saying no nation could move forward without the quality education.
Muslim Hands Chairman Syed Lakhat Hussain said the organisation was concentrating on the provision of education along with emergency relief all over the world. Under a programme, it was providing free education to more than 40,000 poor students in 300 schools around the world, he added.Hussain informed the audience that they would soon start work on a modern Islamic University for the poor students of Muslim countries.
