The International Aalami Urdu Conference, to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of great poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, will be held in New York on June 24. Artists, poets and writers from around the world will be attending the three-day conference.
Khalil ur Rehman, the organiser said this will be the world’s biggest conference to commemorate the great legend, who was one of the progressive and moderate poets of the century. He said, Faiz, through his poetry gives us the message of justice and equality and that is the reason, Faiz is alive in the hearts of the masses.
He said the purpose of the conference is to promote harmony between countries.
“Faiz was not a poet for one country rather he lives in the heart of every person who believes in freedom and justice”. Khalil ur Rehman said.
He added that it was of utmost importance to remember the icons of freedom and liberty in this difficult time.
Faiz’s daughter, Muniza Hashmi, will be the chief guest on the occasion while poets and literary figures from across the world will also participate.
Amjad Islam Amjad, Anwer Masood, Dr Sher Shah Syed, Inam ul Haq Javed, Professor Gopi Chund Narang, Professor Abdul Jalil Pathan, Mirza Khalil Baig, Professor Taqi Abidi, Iqbal Haider, Naseem Syed, Shaista Zaidi, Dr David Mathews and Dr Aamir Liaqat Hussain are some of the prominent names that will be attending.
