Govt shuffles allotment of houses in GOR-1

The Punjab government has allotted houses in GOR-I to several government officers, while notices have been issued to several others to vacate their GOR-I residences, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Prominent among those who have been allotted houses are Information Secretary Muhiyudin Wani, Secretary Literacy Dr Allah Baksh Malik, Implementation and Coordination (I&C) Secretary Syed Mubashar Raza, Member Colony Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry, Archives DG Haroon Ahmad Khan, Anwar Hussain Sheikh, Member Inquiry Kausar Ghafar, Malik Ahsan Iqbal, Shaukat Ali and Tariq Najeeb Najmi.
Among those who have been asked to vacate their residences are former secretary information Shoaib Bin Aziz, former IG Rana Maqbool and former federal secretary Yousaf Kamal. Notices to vacate the residences came as a surprise to many officers. Sources said that several officers have started ‘pulling the strings’ to retain their residences in the most coveted government residences in the provincial metropolis.
Several officers have been posted to the federal government, while many have retired but are still retaining the residences, they added. The government has recently revised the allotment policy during negotiations with the PCS Officers’ Association, who expressed severe reservations over the allotment policy and termed it biased towards the DMG.
According to the new policy, a government servant, both the DMG and PCS, will have to vacate the residence two years after being posted in the federal capital. Vacating the house was also subject to getting a new residence in the capital for the DMG officers.
