Women’s role vital in country’s uplift: Dr Firdous

DASKA – Federal Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and philanthropists to come forward and establish educational institutions in the neglected areas of the country.
Addressing the annual prize-distribution of a school in village Sherpur, the minister revealed that a “sasta bazaar” would soon be started in the district where women would run their own businesses exclusively. Dr Firdous said that women could play a vital role in the development process to put the country on the road to prosperity.

We are determined to steer the people out of crisis despite all odds and we will not take rest until we provide relief to the people, she said and added the government intended to empower the poor segments of the society. Meanwhile, addressing a gathering after inaugurating a gas project at Shadiwal, the minister said the MQM should be welcomed for launching its political campaign in the Punjab. She said there was a great difference between the politics of Sindh and Punjab.
