‘UVAS trying to raise academic and research activities’

LAHORE – The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) is making all out efforts to raise academic and research activities to compete with international standards, UVAS VC Dr Nawaz said on Saturday. He was addressing the concluding session of a three-day internship orientation workshop for DVM final year students, organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the seminar hall.
Faculty of Veterinary Science Dean Dr Nasim Ahmad, Faculty of Bio Sciences Dean Dr Ijaz Ahmad, Australian Support Linkage Programme (ASLP) Representative Dr Russel David, Dr Hassan Warraich and UVAS Registrar Dr Kamran Ashraf attended the workshop. Dr Nawaz said that the workshop is regarded as a new beginning towards professional life adding that life is not always a bed of roses. He urged students to concentrate on their targets and futuristic goals.
There is no short cut in life and one should be innovative and work hard to achieve the ultimate destiny, the UVAS VC said. Dr Nawaz said that internships are a great way to earn as you learn while you gain valuable experience in your chosen field. He urged students to keep in touch with their mother institution and earn good name for it. “The UVAS is going to become the world’s top veterinary university by providing quality education”.
Dr Nawaz said, “If you have skill and enthusiasm with your profession, money will follow you”. He urged the undergraduate alumni to strengthen the UVAS family. Dr Nasim Ahmad said, “There is no public-sector university offering internships for students but we have managed the third DVM batch. Purpose of this training is to get a job and improve weaknesses and understand professional behaviour.”
