Two terrorists held, hand grenades seized

FAISALABAD – Faisalabad Police, during a snap checking, stopped an auto-rickshaw and arrested a terrorist and recovered two hand grenades from him. According to details, Lorry Addah police ordered the driver of an auto-rickshaw coming out of the local bus stand to stop for checking. When the passenger in the rickshaw saw the police, he jumped out of the vehicle and tried to flee on foot but he was arrested.
The police recovered two hand grenades from his possession. He was identified as Tariq. During the interrogation, the accused Tariq gave the details of his other accomplice. Bassed on the information from the arrested accused, Bhawana Police DSP raided the house of Javed Fauji, arrested him and recovered three hand grenades from his house.
WOMAN RAPED: The police are looking for a rogue who raped a married woman who was alone in her house. According to details, Allah Ditta, a resident of Chak No 104 JB, reported to Chak Jhumra police that his wife was alone in the house when Shahid from the same village came there and raped her.
Commissioner directs exam staff to check cheating: Commissioner Syed Tahir Hussain visited a number of examination centres of middle standard and directed the examiners and invigilators to check cheating. “We have ensured a comprehensive, transparent and foolproof system of monitoring during the board examinations despite our limited resources,” said the commissioner talking to newsmen after visiting Government Higher Secondary School Allam Iqbal Road and Government Islamia High School, Jinnah Colony where he visited four examination centres.
Condemning the booty mafia responsible for the use of unfair means in exam halls, He said these elements were the enemies of education and merit and they must be discouraged at every level. He directed the headmasters of the institutions to strictly ensure the implementation of Faisalabad Education Board’s rules and regulations in letter and spirit.
He made it clear that those who were caught while cheating during the examinations would be severely punished and a swift disciplinary action taken against the staff members found showing a soft corner towards the cheaters. It is interesting to note that in the last week’s board exams of 5th standard, at least 32 teachers, including four headmasters were suspended for their involvement in cheating. Amid the strong allegations of cheating at a particular centre the whole invigilating staff was transferred.
Those suspended in the first phase included Maqsood Shah, Idrees, Liaquat, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Abdullah, Imtiaz, Parveen, Shazia, Shagufta and Farhana. In this context, senior headmaster Ashiq Ali was given a show cause notice while superintendent Mohammad Sarfaraz was suspended. In the second phase, headmaster Muazzam Ali along with teachers Saif Ullah, Mohammad Rasheed, Hameeda Begum, Shabana Kausar, Haneefa Akhtar, Ameena Naureen, Lubna Mubarak, Nargis Parveen, Gulshan Shahzadi, Parveen Yousuf and Mohammad Iqbal were those among the suspended.
The details shows that majority of the staff are female teachers who are found lenient towards the students. Cheating during examinations, biased paper marking and favouritism has undrmined the level of education among the students qualifying from govt schools.
