Christmas celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA

PESHAWAR – Christians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Saturday celebrated Christmas with a pledge to work for Pakistan’s progress, stability and peace.
Main congregations were held in Saint John Cathedral and Michel Catholic, Peshawar where need of tolerance and co-existence in society was emphasised in the Christmas sermon. The churches were decorated with lightings and buntings. Christmas trees were decorated in the Christian households and gifts were also exchanged.
Special security arrangements were made at the churches where close circuit cameras and walk through gates were installed. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly minority member Asif Bhattai said that inter-faith harmony could guarantee peace and brotherhood among people of different religions.
He distributed gifts among Christians at a special function organised by Assemblies of God Church where Sports, Culture and Tourism Minister Syed Aqil Shah was also present.
