Punjab govt to target farmers after teachers and students: Elahi

LAHORE: After teachers and students, farmers would be the next target of the Punjab government, former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said on Saturday.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Nankana chapter office bearers at the PML House. Elahi said that while people were dying of hunger, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif was ruthlessly using the government machinery to silence the voices of the oppressed.
The PML-Q leader said that Rs 300 billion overdraft had fully exposed the Punjab government’s incompetence. The former Punjab CM said that all sections of society including farmers, labourers, businessmen, traders, industrialists and government employees were totally dissatisfied with Shahbaz’s poor policies.
He said that Punjab’s pathetic condition was due to Shahbaz’s poor administration and the Punjab government’s dismal performance. Elahi blamed the Punjab government for rising poverty and unemployment in the province. The PML-Q leader said that the Punjab government was not bothered about the deteriorating law and order situation or the rising suicide rate in the province.
He slammed Shahbaz’s privatisation policy and held the Punjab CM and his incompetent team responsible for the current hardships of the people of Punjab.
