Judge lets Baloch go

LAHORE: Additional District and Session Judge Muhammad Mohsin Raza on Saturday disposed the case against College of Earth and Environmental Sciences Principal Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain Baloch.
Baloch’s counsel Chaudhary Tanveer Akhtar argued Baloch was out of Lahore on leave at the reported time of the harassment. He produced documentary evidence in the court in this regard. Police had already declared the accused innocent on the basis of his absence from Lahore.
The court after hearing the arguments and examining the documents disposed of his case. Two cases were registered against Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain Baloch at Muslim Town Police Station on the complaints of an administrator and Shabina Gull, a student of second semester, on the charge of attempt of harassment in his room.
‘Baloch bribed his way out’
LAHORE: Prof Dr Iftikhar Bloch bribed the police to get a safe passage in the sexual harassment case, said Abrar Khan, husband of the victim lecturer in Punjab University, during a press conference on Saturday.
Baloch said he did not bribe the police and the allegations against him were false as the court declared him innocent. Islami Jamiat Taliba (IJT) activists were also present in the press conference, who manhandled him in March on taking action against IJT’s criminal activities and allegedly established a false case against Baloch.
Abrar alleged that Baloch bribed the investigation officer Azeem and said police has been continuously favoring Baloch from the start of investigation. He told media that he had given an application to the Senior Superintendent of Police Investigation to change the investigation officer.
The case was handed over to sub inspector Ikram, a member of the investigation case, but Iftikhar used his connections and bribed the cops again to go scot free, he said. He alleged that he was been threatened to change his statement against the accused while police was trying to change the nature of the case. Staff Report
